Open 3D Engine hosts a series of monthly virtual meetups that provide an opportunity for the community to build new connections, learn more about O3DE, and ask questions. These monthly Connect meetings typically accommodate all levels of expertise, with guidance, step-by-step demos and tips and tricks.

Joe Bryant recently shared a look back at O3DE’s progress in 2025, along with a forward-looking view of what’s ahead in 2026. The past year marked a period of strong and sustained momentum for the project.
In 2025, O3DE experienced an 87.82% increase in downloads compared to 2024. This growth builds on an already positive trajectory, as 2024 saw 34% growth over 2023, underscoring continued and accelerating adoption across the ecosystem.

Looking Ahead: The 2026 Vision
As O3DE moves into 2026, the O3D Foundation will continue to build on the engine’s core strengths while reducing barriers to adoption. The focus remains on increasing momentum and visibility across gaming, robotics, and film/video, while prioritizing improvements that enhance O3DE’s long-term viability.
Beyond technology, community growth remains central to O3DE’s mission. In 2026, the foundation will continue to expand its outreach efforts, while fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment for contributors and users around the world.

O3DE will maintain its predictable release cadence with two major releases planned for the year:

With strong momentum behind it and a clear roadmap ahead, O3DE enters 2026 focused on empowering creators, growing its global community, and continuing to evolve as a production-ready, open 3D engine.
