One Game, One Theme, and 48 Hours

26 Feb, 2026 | 4 min read

Open 3D Engine hosts a series of monthly virtual meetups that provide an opportunity for the community to build new connections, learn more about O3DE, and ask questions. These monthly Connect meetings typically accommodate all levels of expertise, with guidance, step-by-step demos and tips and tricks.

All O3DE Connect meetings are recorded and posted on the Open 3D Engine Youtube Channel. Check out the complete playlist here.

At a recent O3DE Connect meeting, Andre Alvarez stood as the spokesperson for a team of five developers who, despite being strangers at the start of the weekend, successfully built and exported a 3D game using O3DE (v25.10.2). Their project, In Sight, explores the theme of “Masks” through an introspective dream world where the environment reacts to the player’s state of consciousness.

The Team

  • Andre: Lead Programmer and O3DE Implementation

  • Caio: 3D Visual Artist and Post-Processing Specialist

  • Jean Victor: Lead Game and Level Designer

  • Paulo Oliver: Sound Effects, Logo Design, and Documentation

  • Vitor Jordan: Music Composition

Technical Highlights & O3DE Workflow

Andre highlighted how the team utilized O3DE’s modular architecture to meet the aggressive 48-hour deadline.

  • Smart Prefabs: They used Prefab Inheritance to create dozens of blocks from one base template. By using Editor Only settings, they kept the game’s “under the hood” structure clean and bug-free.

  • Visual Logic: Using Script Canvas, Andre built a system that swaps every material in the level instantly when a player puts on a mask.

  • Atmospheric Bloom: To make simple shapes look like a dream, the team used the Atom Renderer’s bloom and post-processing tools to create a glowing, ethereal environment.
